Heritage Christian School in Canton to honor Flight 93 Heroes during 10th anniversary of 9/11

Heritage Christian School in Canton, 2107 Sixth St. SW, will hold a special 9/11 memorial ceremony at the Sixth Street school entrance on Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011, beginning at 8:45 a.m. Heritage families and special guests have been invited to attend.

Heritage is partnering with the organization “93 Cents for Flight 93,” to honor the heroes of Flight 93. The campaign helps to educate students about the events of September 11 and Flight 93, and helps raise funds to build a permanent Flight 93 National Memorial near Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

The September 7 ceremony will include individual bell tolls as the names of each Flight 93 passenger and crew member is read, and an American flag is placed in their memory.

In addition, those visitors in attendance may donate 93 cents to sign a banner from Heritage Christian School that will eventually be housed at the Flight 93 National Memorial.

As the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks approaches, Heritage students are planning projects to earn or raise 93 cents each to be donated toward building the memorial. Students are encouraged to make some type of sacrifice of their time, money or energy in order to honor and remember the sacrifices made for them. Heritage students already have raised more than $150 in a few short weeks, and some student leaders visited the temporary memorial site near Shanksville, PA.

Visit www.heritagechristianschool.org or http://93centsforflight93.org/ for details about efforts to have schoolchildren sacrifice something to raise 93 Cents for the Flight 93 Memorial.
