Sports notes: Pennington named coach of UIFL Western Pennsylvania Sting

– I was excited to hear about Paul Pennington’s hire as the new head coach of the UIFL Western Pennsylvania Sting. Went to college with Pennington at Malone University and he although he was part of the school’s first football team, my favorite memory was that he was a lead blocker on my first touchdown in freshman flag football. Good times :). But seriously, he’s a great guy who should do well there.

– Miss Ohio State’s great win over Duke last week? I did. I’m an old man. If you’re old like me, you can check out the game telecast above.

– Speaking of Ohio State, WSYX-TV in Columbus posted this video above of LeBron James being interviewed at the game, complete with lots of boos and jeering. I don’t agree with “The Decision” and wish LeBron would have remained with the Cleveland Cavaliers, but the “LeBron hate” is old. It’s time to move on.

– Urban Meyer is a great hire for Ohio State. If he’s here for two years or 20, he’s better than other options.

– Last week I posted Cleveland sports radio show host Tony Rizzo’s recent rant about a recent Cleveland Browns loss. For as bad as the team continues to be, I’m amazed that fans stick with them.
