Gaffigan to debut new stand-up special online
The special will be available for download for $5, and a dollar from each download will go to to The Bob Woodruff Foundation; a charity dedicated to serving injured veterans and their families.
Gaffigan is following the model of fellow comedian Louis CK, who earned over $1 million in the first 11 days after its release in December.
“I am confident that the low price of my new comedy special and the fact that 20% of each $5 download will be donated to this very noble cause will prevent people from stealing it,” Gaffigan said in his announcement. “Maybe I’m being naive, but I trust you guys. Besides who would want the karma of stealing money from wounded Veterans? Come on you guys. How dare you even think about it?
It’s a fascinating move. Hopefully more musicians/comedians will follow suit.
Gaffigan will be at Playhouse Square in Cleveland May 12. You can buy tickets here.
EX-IDOL TO SING AT FINDLAY – As part of the Music Bach’s Series at The University of Findlay, singer-songwriter and guitarist Caleb Hawley will perform from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, March 2, in the Alumni Memorial Union (AMU). There is no cost to attend, and tickets are not required.
The audience is encouraged to bring lunch or purchase lunch from The Cave inside the AMU. Concert-goers may come and go during the show as schedules permit.
Hawley, from New York City, recently released a CD, “Steps,” that has drawn fans of pop, jazz and modern folk music. He also earned fans after appearing on Season 10 of American Idol.
You can buy tickets here.
