University of Findlay students take part in art exhibition
Art by 18 photography students and one recent graduate from The University of Findlay was accepted in the annual ArtSpace/Lima Photography Club Juried Exhibition, which runs through Feb. 18.
Juried exhibitions allow artists to submit their work to be judged and accepted into the showcase. Xiaoyu Luan, a UF student from Beijing, won Best in Show for her photograph “Building in Philly.” Steph Rzeplinski, a UF student from Fredericksburg, Pa., received an honorable mention in the miscellaneous category for her piece, “Spur of the Moment.”
ASHLAND SLATES FACULTY CONCERT – The Department of Music at Ashland University presents a faculty recital with soprano Dione Bennett and pianist Pavlina Draganova on Sunday, Feb. 26, at 5 p.m. in the Elizabeth Pastor Recital Hall. The concert is free and open to the public.
The concert program offers a “World of Colors” through the Latin rhythms of Xavier Montsalvage, the jazz fusion of Ricky Ian Gordan, the classical musings of Robert Owens, H. T. Burleigh, John Carter and Rosephanye Powell. Bennett will also highlight the poetry of Langston Hughes.
MUSIC RECITAL PLANNED AT MALONE – The Malone University College of Theology, Arts, and Sciences – Department of Music will present a music production recital Monday, Feb. 13 at 7:30 p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of the Johnson Center for Worship and the Fine Arts, located on the campus at 2600 Cleveland Avenue N.W. in Canton. The program is free and open to the public. All music performed is recorded – there will be no live performances.
