Malone University announces fall chapel schedule

Chapel services take place Tuesdays at 10 a.m. and Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. in the Johnson Center for Worship and the Fine Arts, 2600 Cleveland Avenue N.W., Canton, Ohio 44709.

All Malone University chapel services are free and open to the public.

This semester, we will have an ongoing theme focusing on Romans 12:1-2. University Chaplain Randy Heckert will speak on these during his five chapel talks.

August 30 – University Convocation, Dr. Will Friesen Interim President will be speaking.

August 31 – Pastor Randy Heckert (Theme Chapel #1) will be speaking on Romans 12:1-2.

September 6 -Guest Speaker, Derek Melleby Director, College Transition Initiative, CPYU. Speaking on “why college” and “why attend a Christian college.”

Note: Derek will lead a 9/6 evening program from 7-8:30 p.m. in the Stewart Room (RCC).

September 7 – Guest Speaker, Derek Melleby Director, College Transition Initiative, CPYU. Speaking on “Why College and “Why Attend a Christian College.”

September 13 – Rev. Chris White , Gateway Community EPC, will be speaking on a Biblical overview.
Note: Chris will lead a 9/13 evening program from 7-8:30 p.m. in the Stewart Room (RCC).

September 14 – Rev. Chris White, Gateway Community EPC, will be speaking on a Biblical overview.

September 20 – Pastor Randy Heckert (Theme Chapel #2) with musical guest The Vespers

September 21 – Pastor Rick Sams, Senior Pastor, Alliance Friends Church, speaking on Quaker testimonies, simplicity, integrity, equality and peace.

September 27 – Brett McCracken , Worldview Forum guest, writer, journalist, and author of the book, Hipster Christianity, When Church & Cool Collide.

September 28 – Joel Daniel Harris, Middle School Youth Pastor, First Friends Church, Canton, Ohio. Joel will be speaking on the topic of pornography.

October 4 – Jeff Leon, Coalition for Christian Outreach

October 5 – no chapel…moved to October 7

October 7 – Homecoming Chapel featuring Deb Robinson, Director of Alumni and Parent Relations, Malone University.

October 11 – Pastor Randy Heckert (Theme Chapel #3) with musical guest Lara Landon.

October 12 – Departmental Chapel (held at sites around campus; locations TBA)

October 18 – Dr. CeCile Fransman, Malone University board member.

October 19 – Pastor Chad DeWeerd, Pastor of The Evangelical Friends Church, Broadview Heights, Ohio

October 25 – Exploring Worship Chapel (focusing on different music worship styles; students will choose from 3 TBA options) Dr. David Kienzle, Director of Music and Sacred Arts, Christ Presbyterian Church, Canton, will be leading a service option on Taize, in JC Memorial Chapel.

October 26 – Conor Grennan, Founder and President of Next Generation Nepal. Author of the book Little Princes, One Man’s Promise to Bring Home the Lost Children of Nepal, will be speaking on human trafficking

November 1 – Pastor Randy Heckert (Theme Chapel #4) with musical guest Chris Sligh

November 2 – G.C. Waldrep, poet and historian

November 8 – Andy Crouch, Worldview Forum guest

November 9 – Andy Crouch, Worldview Forum guest

November 15 – Acts of Renewal, husband and wife drama team.
Note: Acts of Renewal will perform a 11/15 evening program from 7-8 p.m. in the Memorial Chapel (JC).

November 16 – Acts of Renewal, husband and wife drama team.

November 22 – Thanksgiving Chapel featuring Amanda Powell, musician and educator

November 23 — no chapel (Thanksgiving Break)

November 29 – Pastor Randy Heckert (Theme Chapel #5)

November 30 – Christmas Chapel featuring the Fine Arts Department
