Bible Quizzing Finals to be held tomorrow on The University of Findlay campus
The National Bible Quiz Tournament, hosted by the Churches of God, General Conference, began today and will conclude Friday.
Championship rounds will be held in the Alumni Memorial Union on campus. The junior high competition is from 1:40 – 3 p.m., and the senior high competition is from 3-4:40 p.m.
The competition will be streamed live at http://www.findlay.edu/media/uftv/biblequiz.htm.
Approximately 70-75 middle school and high school students (22 teams) from Ohio, Indiana, Maryland and Pennsylvania are participating in the Churches of God, General Conference, National Quiz Tournament. Teams are made up of two to five students each.
The quiz team members have been studying the Gospel of John for the past year, and the quiz questions test their knowledge, understanding and memorization of passages from that book. Quizzes typically involve three teams (three members per team for a total of nine participants) who answer a series of approximately 20 questions based upon their study of the Gospel of John.
Individual and team scores are recorded and an awards ceremony is held on Saturday morning. Team and individual places will be recognized.
In addition to the friendly competition, the overarching goal of Bible Quizzing is rooted in disciple making — getting young people into God’s Word, helping them to know and understand the teachings of Jesus with the goal of faithfully following him.
