Conduit Mission to host first charity golf event on June 6

On June 6, Conduit Mission will be hosting its first charity Golf Tournament at Forrest Crossing Golf Course in Franklin, Tenn. The 4-member scramble with a 1:30pm shot-gun tee off will include 18 holes of golf including cart, lunch, snacks, goodie bag and BBQ dinner, along with additional prizes and contests. Golfer registration begins at 11:00am and the cost is $100 per player with proceeds benefiting Conduit Mission projects in Haiti and Africa.

On January 12, 2010, in the blink of an eye, over one million Haitians became homeless. Conduit Mission was one of the first-responders to bring in food, water and supplies to the suffering in Jacmel, a coastal community badly damaged by the earthquake. One year later, thousands of residents still live in tents. Last fall, Conduit Mission began rebuilding homes, and they intend to raise the funds to rebuild a minimum of seventeen homes in 2011.

One of Conduit Mission’s ministry partners, David Whetstone of Mentor Leaders, has witnessed firsthand the effects of HIV/AIDS and poverty in Africa. While in Togo, he identified a remote village that had no clean water source, no schools and over 300 orphans. Small children fetch water from a hole that smells like a sewage dump. “When they actually drink this foul water, they use the sleeves of their shirts as a makeshift filter doing their best to eliminate the slime, worms and dirt,” he observed. Conduit Mission has sent the first half of the funding needed to complete the water well, and start building a school and orphanage for this community.

Since 2007, Conduit Mission has been sharing resources with the poor and marginalized on several continents. What was once a Bible study group has now turned into a full-blown mission with operations in Togo, Africa; Jacmel, Haiti; and, Franklin, Tennessee.
