No. 1: Zoombezi Bay unveils new slides for fourth season
Stock up on sunscreen, dig out those swimsuits and mark your calendar for the 2011 season opener at Zoombezi Bay on Saturday, May 21 at 10:30 a.m.
From the moment vibrant Macaws greet guests to their first plunge down one of two brand new serpentine slides, they are sure to a have an unforgettable experience that John Gannon, Senior Vice President of Zoombezi Bay, looks forward to unveiling for the park’s fourth season.
“Zoombezi Bay’s two new slide additions this year, Anaconda Falls and Python Plunge, will add two more world class slides to our current slide package,” Gannon said. “With two more slides, lines will be shorter, but excitement and adventure will be much greater.”
One of only six in the United States and only once of its kind in Ohio, Anaconda Falls whips riders from side to side and through an enclosed tunnel at tremendous speeds! Riders experience the rush of weightlessness as they careen over a zero-gravity hill and splash down into a landing pool.
Another new addition, Python Plunge, takes riders on an uphill adventure. Guests will accelerate to exhilarating speeds before being blasted uphill on jetted water and then shot into a 70-foot long landing pool.
After stepping out of the landing pool, guests can head to the entry gazebo to visit the Zoo’s promotional animals from the Animal Encounters Village.
“We are excited to have animal guests each day from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. near the new Macaw display,” said Tom Stalf, Chief Operating Office at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. “This is a great opportunity for guests to meet these amazing animals as we carry over our appreciation of animals into our water park.”
Admission to Zoombezi Bay includes access to the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium on the same day. There’s so much to do and see that it’s hard to fit it all in one day. For the most economical option consider a Zoombezi Bay season pass which also includes free parking.
Zoombezi Bay opens daily beginning May 28 at 10:30 a.m. Closing times vary each day.
